Millwall of England winger, Sheyi Ojo, who is on loan from top-flight giants, Liverpool, has been charged to stay consistent in good performances for the team, megasportsarena.com reports.
This is the verdict of the lower division club’s coach, Gary Rowett, who hailed Ojo’s talent and fighting spirit, but charged the lad to give more in order to live up to his potential.
He admitted that the dark-skinned Nigerian-born lad has faced torrid time, leaving Liverpool on loan to Reims of France, Glasgow Rangers of Scotland and Fulham of England in quick succession, but stressed that he has to stay focused.
The gaffer further advised Ojo to be consistent in his performances, for him to re-establish himself in The Lions’ starting lineup, as the forward aims to make the best of his days at his seventh loan club.
Having also previously spent time at Wigan Athletic and Wolverhampton Wanderers of England as well as Cardiff City of Wales, the 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup winner has to step up, as he is yet to open his goals scoring account since his arrival at Millwall.
Ojo, who has provided two assists for his teammates, has struggled to break into Millwall’s starting line-up since the start of November, starting only one out of a possible seven matches in the English Championship, and Rowett says the lad needs to do more.
“Sheyi’s a player with such great potential both athletically and technically. I’m sure I’m probably sat here like Liverpool just wanting to see a tiny bit more consistent delivery of that.
“He’s a really good lad, he fits well into the group and works incredibly hard. He’s been disappointed not to have started in the last few.
“The next step for Sheyi is that consistency of delivering those performances. He’s capable of it, he’s a very, very talented young player.
“I think it’ll be down to him to a certain degree how far he goes in the game because he’s got a little bit of everything,” Rowett told News at Den.
