Glasgow Rangers of Scotland appear ready to try another chapter in their relations with Nigerian players, as the Scottish Premiership club are now gunning for the signatures of both Sheyi Ojo and Joe Aribo, megaspoertsarena.com has gathered.
Although The Gers did not have it rosy in their previous romance with the Nigerian duo of Sadiq Umar and Ovie Ejaria, they are currently sounding out Charlton Athletic about their possibility of hooking Aribo and a deal with Ojo is being ironed out with Liverpool and Bournemouth, with which the dark-skinned winger lined out on loan this season.
The Gers’ move for Ojo also means the connection between the SPL club’s manager, Steven Gerrard and his former team, Liverpool, is set to be once again utilised by Rangers.
The Glasgow-based side are said to be close to signing Ojo on loan for the season, and Liverpool have already given the winger the green light to make the move to Scotland.
Daily Record reports further that the 21-year-old Ojo is expected to join up with Gerrard’s squad when they return for pre-season training next week, for the start of yet another loan spell for the England under-21 international.
The dark-skinned Ojo, who previously had loan spells with Wigan Athletic, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Fulham, then spent last season with Reims of France, is expected to extend his contract with Liverpool before his proposed move to Rangers
An additional report by Daily Mail states that Rangers have also opened talks with Charlton over a deal for Aribo, but they face competition from Southampton, their SPL rivals, Celtic as well as clubs in Germany.
The 22-year-old Aribo, who had a banner season for Charlton, helping them gain promotion to the EFL Championship via the playoffs, with 10 goals in 39 games, is set to leave The Addicks as a free agent at the end of this month after rejecting a new deal.
