London-based Nigerian duo of Ryan Alebiosu and Tariq Uwakwe have both joined English League One outfit, Crewe Alexandra in different types of deals.
Megasportsarena.com reports that, while Uwakwe joins The Railwaymen from Chelsea on an 18 month contract, Alebiosu is stepping across the road from Arsenal only on loan.
Uwakwe’s transfer ends his 15-year-stay at Stamford Bridge, but Arsenal disclosed that Alebiosu joins The Crew on loan for rest of the season.
The 20-year-old defender moves to Gresty Road to gain senior experience having progressed through the ranks at Hale End and London Colney, but he will now target big time games with The Railwaymen, who are currently 22nd in League One.
Alebiosu, who was named in Arsenal’s senior squad for their recent games against Liverpool and Burnley in the Carabao Cup and English Premier League respectively, links up alongside Uwakwe with the Nigerian-born duo of Rio Adebisi and Tyreece Onyeka at Crewe
The Crew face a real relegation battle over the next four months, which would be a tough challenge for Alebiosu, who has trained regularly with The Gunners in recent months and was on the bench for the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg versus Liverpool and for Sunday’s 0-0 draw with Burnley.
He is capable of playing as a wing-back, winger and in midfield, and has League One experience under his belt having made 15 appearances during a loan spell at Accrington Stanley in 2020-21, while Uwakwe has played friendlies for England at youth level, but remains eligible for Nigeria.
