FC Porto coach Sergio Conceicao is full of praise for Zaidu Sanusi who he says has what it takes to reach the top of the game.
The left back has bounced back to become an ever-present in the teams starting lineup after uncertainties last season that stirred speculations he may be forced out of the Portuguese giants.
Zaidu started Saturday’s 3-0 win over Sporting Lisbon as table toppers Porto racked up their third win in as many games, and played to the delight of Conceicao, who couldn’t stop praising him.
“He has what I think a player should have as a basis to evolve & progress, he is very humble,” the Porto coach remarked.
“When listening to what we have to say, when dedicating himself 100% to each training session, that’s how you get better today than you were yesterday.”
The Porto coach went on to defend some of the rough edges around the game of the leftback.
“Zaidu does 1300 metres at high intensity and is criticised. He had one or more bad decisions, but he is a player with a very good attitude in training and games,” he said.
“He was playing in the district leagues three years ago and people don’t realise that.”
