Pinnick Sheds Light On Specifics Behind Sack Of Rohr

The president of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick has blown the lid off a chain of events and steps that led to the sack of Gernot Rohr as Super Eagles’ coach.

While affirming that Rohr’s sack became imperative to avert disaster for the Eagles at next year’s Africa Cup of Nations, Pinnick stressed that it was a collective decision of the NFF’s executive committee.

Megasportsarena.com gathered further that, in what could be a rebuttal of speculation on various circles of Nigerian football that sports minister, Sunday Dare played a key role in edging Rohr out, Pinnick insisted that the NFF followed due process in arriving at Sunday night’s decision.

Although he stopped short of disclosing if the football governing body will pay Rohr off or whether his exit is as a result of mutual agreement, the NFF’s supremo stressed that the issue was given thorough consultation before the announcement was made.

The former chairman of Delta State Football Association and Deltal State Sports Commission, who is now also a FIFA Council member, added that the NFF’s executive committee arrived at the decision to send Rohr packing in the best interest of the Eagles and Nigeria’s football image.

Pinnick posited in a chat with Channels Television: “It wasn’t an individual decision. It was a collective decision by the entire  executive committee.

“We didn’t want to wait for a disaster to happen before parting ways.

“We got reports from the technical and strategic committees, and we put all these things together.”
