Victor Osimhen was back to goal scoring business on Saturday as he grabbed one goal and assisted another in Napoli’s 6-1 thrashing of Sassuolo at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.
Megasportsarena.com reports that Osimhen has now scored 13 Serie A goals and has been involved in 19 goals in the Italian top flight.
Osimhen has also equalled his record of goals in a single season in Europe, having scored 13 goals for Lille in Ligue 1: 2019/20 and now 13 goals for Napoli in Serie A: 2021/22).
A pair of Lorenzo Insigne corners were met by Kalidou Koulibaly and Victor Osimhen, then Chucky Lozano slid onto the Osimhen assist before Dries Mertens cut inside to blast in at the near post.
The second goal scored by Osimhen was practically a replay of the first, except this time it was the Nigerian who got the header in off the underside of the crossbar
Mertens completed his brace by combining with Fabian Ruiz and Amir Rrahmani finished off a chaotic move for 6-0.
Maxime Lopez provided scant Sassuolo consolation.
Osimhen had the ball in the net again on 71 minutes, but was ruled for offside.
