SSC Napoli of Italy striker, Victor Osimhen has declared that he feels great getting back into action with his Italian Serie A club and that it came on a night they won away to Bologna, megasportsarena.com reports.
Although he only got to play as a 71st minute substitute, Osimhen admitted it was a welcome relief that he finally got back unto the pitch, following a very scary face injury he copped in November.
His return on Monday, though, stirs up more controversy about his withdrawal from the Super Eagles’ squad to the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, as his appearance in the game put a lie to the declaration by his club that he would be out until late February.
His return, therefore, came in defiance of possible umbrage from Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) over how Napoli forced him out of the Eagles’ squad to AFCON 2021, with an additional fishy report about covid-19 eventually putting an end to speculation about his availability.
He, however, failed to twinkle during his first game back, as goals in each half by Hirving Lozano ensured Napoli picked up a routine 2-0 victory away to Bologna to move within two points of second-placed AC Milan after their loss at home to Spezia.
Match stats for Napoli noted the Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup top scorer as a sub in their squad – viz: Meret, Di Lorenzo, Rrahmani, Jesus, Mario Rui, Lobotka, Fabian Ruiz (Ghoulam 86), Elmas (Petagna 86), Zielinski (Demme 80), Lozano (Politano 71), Mertens (Osimhen 71).
Osimhen gleefully took to social media with an excited declaration and thirst for more action after Monday’s encounter, as he tweeted: “Feels So Good To Be Back! Solid Performance From The Boys. Onto The Next One, GOD Is The Greatest 100. We Move.”
