Lille Metropole of France striker, Victor Osimhen has been handed the golden opportunity to replicate club form with the national team, as the four goal hero in his first four matches of the French Ligue 1 will lead Nigeria’s hunt for goals in Tuesday’s international friendly against Ukraine, megasportsarena.com gathered.
Joining Osimhen up front in the Super Eagles’ starting line-up for the 7:30pm kick-off at Dnipro-Arena are the Samuel namesakes, Chukwueze and Kalu in a 4-3-3 formation, while Glasgow Rangers of Scotland midfielder, Joe Aribo gets a glorious debut, as he starts in midfield alongside the holding schemer, Oghenekaro Etebo and playmaker, Alex Iwobi.
Gernot Rohr has opted for West Bromwich Alb ion summer arrival, Semi Ajayi instead match-rusty Leon Aderemi Balogun in central defence, to pair stand-in captain William Troost-Ekong, with Ola Aina as right-back and Jamilu Collins on left side of the back-four.
While Kalu will play from the left of attack, Chukwueze will star on the right and Osimhen goes out as the arrow head upfront, with Francis Odinaka Uzoho starting in goal, ahead of Ikechukwu Ezenwa and new invitee, Emil Maduka Okoye.
Aribo promised to make the best of his debut, and assured as well that he will continue wearing the colours of Nigeria, though he is still eligible to play for his country of birth, England, and his outing on Tuesday at Dnipro Arena does not cap-tie him to the three-time African champions.
The fast-rising attacker, who has hit the back of the net four times in the new season and described himself as a midfielder with offensive and defensive qualities, shares the same agent as Alex Iwobi, Ola Aina and Josh Maja.
Aribo disclosed: ”I am from Ondo State. I play for Glasgow Rangers. I am really happy to have got this call-up to Nigeria and I just want to make the most of it and play as long as possible and just do what I can for the team and make sure that we continue being the best that we can be. I am a central midfielder and I like to get in and around the box. I can defend and I can attack.”
