Lille Metropole of France striker, Victor Osimhen might have to stay put at the Ligue 1 club for the long term, if a new report is anything to go by, as top brass at his club are said to be very keen to hold the former VfL Wolfsburg of Germany and Sporting Charleroi of Belgium revelation.
Megasportsarena.com can report further that, the report adds that, not only will Osimhyen remain with Lille beyond the ongoing January transfer window, the youngster will equally stay put into the next season and most likely beyond, unless a mouth-watering deal comes out of the blue for him.
The 20-year-old Osimhen penned a five-year deal that will keep him at Stade Pierre Mauroy until 2024, in what was amazingly his second transfer last summer, after Sporting Charleroi permanently signed him from Wolfsburg in June, and Sky Sports has now speculated that the lad will see oiut the full duration of the deal.
With Osimhen on a stunning run of goals and team form in only a half season with Lille, the top-flight Ligue 1 club are almost desperate to keep him till the end of his contract in 2024, which means they will only allow him go if they get an unbelievable offer from any interested club.
This is despite Osimhen’s inability to hit target last weekend, as The Great Danes suffered their seventh defeat of the season in a 1-0 defeat by Dijon in Sunday’s Ligue 1 game at Stade Gaston Gerard, and his inability to score in away matches entered a longer chain.
The Super Eagles’ rookie got his 17th league start of this season in the encounter, but he could not save his side from losing, after Julio Tavares opened scoring for The Mustards, while Osimhen could only come close to level matters in the 86th minute but his header was saved.
The 23-year-old Osimhen hit two shots in the encounter and had a 73% successful pass rate in his quest to help his side avoid defeat, but both sides lost a man each to a red card after Hamza Mendyl and Boubakary Soumare were sent off by the match referee, Frank Schneider.
Osimhen featured for the entirety of the game and, though the youngster, who has 10 goals in 19 league games this season, he is still a strong target for transfer speculation this month and in the summer, but a report by Sky Sports has hinted that Lille will not allow the striker go just yet.
Sky Sports submitted: “Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham are among a host of clubs monitoring the Lille striker Victor Osimhen. However, the Nigeria international is expected to stay at Lille for the rest of the season unless the French club receives a January offer that is too good to refuse.”
