Galatasaray of Turkey attacker, Henry Onyekuru could be on his way to joining Senegal stopper, Kalidou Koulibaly at AS Napoli of Italy, following interest in him by the Naples-based Serie A club, who are ready to pay £14m for the Super Eagles’ fringe player, megasportsarena.com gathered.
Although Onyekuru could not realise his keen ambition of excelling at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, where he played as a late substitute in Nigeria’s 2-1 loss to Algeria last weekend, he could still get something big in the summer transfer window.
This is sequel to reports that, while Galatasaray want to keep Onyekuru, who excelled during his debut season with the Istanbul-based club in the Turkish Super Lig, Napoli have lodged a bid for the pace winger-cum-striker with his parent club, Everton of England.
Everton are looking to make a profit on the £7m with which they signed Onyekuru from KAS Eupen of Belgium in 2017, though has yet to make a single appearance for The Toffees, who first loaned him out to another Belgian club, RSC Anderlecht, before he joined Gala in December 2018.
Despite struggling for half a season at Anderlecht, where he fell out of favour after copping an injury, Onyekuru excelled with Galatasaray in the past campaign, during which he scored 16 goals.
That has attracted many suitors across Europe, and Le Soir reports that Everton might be tempted to offload him this summer, after receiving a strong bid from Napoli in the region of £14m.
