Onyeka Rates High With Pace, Power, Athleticism, Energy At Brentford

Brentford Town of England midfielder, Frank Onyeka has been rated high with a high level of pace, power, athleticism and energy, which the club’s head of recruitment, Lee Dykes says make him an asset to the squad.

Dykes stated as much while noting the role being played by Onyeka as one of four African players in Brentford’s squad, along with Bonssu Wissa from DR Congo, Ghana’s Tariqe Fosu and Guinea’s Julien Jeanvier.

Megasportsarena.com gathered that, while Fosu and Jeanvier have barely figured in The Bees’ English Premier League matches due to injuries, 24-year-old Onyeka is impressing with his boundless energy.

Onyeka, who was the club’s first signing following their promotion, joined after featuring in the UEFA Champions League, where he played against Liverpool, Ajax and Atalanta, with FC Midtjylland of Denmark.

Brentford’s modest wealth means the club has to do things differently to keep up with the bigger teams, which they primarily achieve by offering players a perfect platform for future success.

Players like Said Benrahma, Neal Maupay and Ollie Watkins were all bought for no more than £2.7m ($4m) each, but sold for £25m ($32m) to West Ham United, £20m ($25m) to Brighton and £28m ($37m) to Aston Villa.

Both Onyeka and Wissa fit the mould, due to which Dykes, who told BBC Sport Africa that his club now covers a staggering 85,000 players around the world, stressed that the duo had always been deemed high rate performers.

Dykes stated: “We’re never looking for the complete player, we’re looking for a player we can develop and potentially sell in the future for profit.

“Frank is your typical box-to-box player. In the Premier League, you have to have pace, power, athleticism and energy.

“We were convinced Frank could come straight into the Premier League – we knew he’d be a crowd favourite as well because he encompasses a lot of what Brentford fans want to watch.”

Onyeka responded gleefully, saying: “It’s been a really massive step, but so far so good.

“I’ve learned the need to keep up with the pace and technically. Every time I’m on the pitch, I want to give everything for the team. I hate losing.”
