Racing Genk of Belgium striker, Paul Ebere Onuachu has received a massive does of superlatives heading into the summer transfer window, as his former coach at FC Midtjylland of Denmark, Glen Riddersholm says the lanky star has ‘some eye catching core competencies.’
Megasportsarena.com reports that the verdict comes against the backdrop of another sterling campaign for Onuachu, as the Super Eagles’ hitman has already notched 21 goals in all competitions so far this season.
While stopping short of tipping any particular club for Onuachu, who has a contract running with Genk until June 30, 2024, Riddersholm is reeling lyrical about the in-form attacker, who totaled 27 appearances while playing under his charge in three seasons at Midtjylland.
Another flood of transfer links are flooding round Onuachu, who last season won the Belgian Golden Shoe, Footballer of the Year and Ebony Shoe awards, such that Riddersholm is convinced of a big money move for him this summer.
He added that he is happy seeing that Onuachu has developed since he last worked with him, hence his verdict that the leggy lad is ready for the next big step in his career.
Atletico Madrid of Spain and Liverpool of England have both already been mentioned as possible destinations for the 27-year-old Onuachu, who Riddersholm stressed has what it takes to play for any top club across Europe.
Riddersholm told bold.dk: “I’m absolutely convinced he is. I’m not saying he can play solid for those clubs, but he can play a significant role.
“For some of the clubs, he wants to be a squad player, where he has to have a few minutes, because they play many matches in one season.
“The question is also whether he wants to be a solid starter every round or whether he has to take new steps. I can not answer that.
“But he has some eye-catching core competencies, which means that it does not surprise me that there are such big clubs in play.
“Being able to change matches is super important, and Paul has some obvious qualities that are nice for a coach to have at his disposal.”
