Leganes of Spain defender, Kenneth Omeruo has received another dose of expectations in the summer transfer window, following reports that two other La Liga clubs, Villarreal and Getafe are gunning for him, but they are facing competition from some clubs in Germany.
Megasportsarena.com reports that, although Chelsea are playing hard to get on allowing the Super Eagles’ stopper leave, after his loan spell at Leganes, Villarreal and Getafe are now said to be in a battle to get his signature.
Both clubs have a strong tradition of Nigerian players in their squad, with Villarreal, who currently have Sammuel Chukwueze on their cards, having earlier paid the wages of Ikechukwu Uche, after he lined out for Getafe.
Both teams are now thinking of adding Omeruo to their Nigerian links, as they are reportedly ready to fight for the former Sunshine Stars of Akure, Standard Liege of Belgium star, who previously played on loan from Chelsea at ADO Den Haag of Holland, Middlesbrough of England as well as Kasimpasa and Alanyaspor of Turkey.
His future was, however, thrown open last week, when Chelsea rejected an initial offer from Leganes for the 25-year-old dark-skinned defender, whose debut season at Estadio Municipal de Butarque turned out to be a huge success, thereby leaving Chelsea reluctant to release the Kaduna-born star, who is in the final year of his contract with the London club.
Although Omeruo is eager to move on, as he has not played a single competitive match for The Blues, since signing his first contract with the club in 2012, Spanish sports daily, Marca stated that Chelsea turned down a 4m euro offer by Leganes, as it did not meet their valuation.
Consequently, while Los Pepineros are expected to step up their offer for Omeruo, Villarreal and Getafe are both ready to hijack the deal for the star, who has also caught the eyes of some top-flight German clubs.
