Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) secretary-general, Olabanji Oladapo has expressed optimism that top table tennis coaches from the country are learning new ideas at the ongoing coaching refresher course in Ibadan, megasportsarena.com reports.
Oladapo disclosed that the course is being staged in collaboration with Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF), under the Olympic Solidarity Coaching programme and International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF).
He further disclosed that the regional course, which is being supervised by NOC instructor, Abdulmalik Ibrahim, has participants from all across Nigeria as well as Ghana, Burkina Faso and Tunisia.
An instructor from the ITTF, Ahmed Aldawalatly from Egypt is the course adviser, who has made himself accessible to all 20 coaches taken part in the programme that started on Monday will end this Saturday.
Oladapo further pointed out that one of the main objectives is to update Nigeria’s table tennis coaches with new ideas, techniques and skills of modern day tactics and technicality of the ping-pong sport.
The NOC scribe added: “It is the hope of the Nigeria Olympic Committee that coaches that are participating in this programme will exploit the expertise of the instructor to improve their technical abilities.”
