Austin Eguavoen is optimistic that Nigeria will qualify for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup and the Super Eagles has the quality to confront any country they’re pitched against in the playoffs.
Nigeria finished top of Group C in the second-round of qualifiers with 13 points and are currently seeded for the Playoffs based on the last ranking in December but could drop into Pot 2 in a new ranking before the draw.
Eguavoen, who is the Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation, is however not losing any sleep, he’s very optimistic of Nigeria’s chances in the last hurdle to the fiesta.
“The Eagles have the same chance just like the other 9 teams, though whoever comes our way will be tough. I believe however, that when it gets to the wire, it will be between the team that wants it more.
“I know that getting to this round wasn’t easy, but if the boys up their game and put up the performance they are known for, we will surely qualify because the World Cup will also be an added advantage to all of them in terms of player value and stock,” Eguavoen said.
The draw for the playoffs will be held during the Africa Cup of Nations on January 26 in Cameroon.
