Leicester City of England midfielder, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi has been rated Nigeria’s costliest player going to this year’s Africa Cup of Nations, with latest market figures showing his value is now €35m, megasportsarena.com reports.
The former Racing Genk of Belgium star is followed in the Eagles’ value list to AFCON 2019 by Villarreal of Spain winger, Samuel Chukwueze at €30m, while Arsenal of England midfielder, Alex Iwobi is third at €25m, Galatasaray of Turkey attacker, Henry Onyekuru in joint-fourth at a value of €13m with Victor Osimhen from Sporting Charleroi of Belgium.
Sixth is Ahmed Musa from Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia (€12m), followed by new full deal signing at Torino of Italy, Ola Aina and Girondins-Bordeaux of France winger, Samuel Kalu (both €10m), while Shanghai Shenhua of China striker, Odion Jude Ighalo is ninth with €9m.
Tenth spot goes to Stoke City of England midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo (€7m), followed by FC Mydttyjlland of Denmark striker, Paul Onuachu (€6m), Leganes of Spain defender, Kenneth Omeruo (€5m) and Udinese of Italy stopper, William Troost-Ekong (€4m).
Joint-14th goes to Eagles’ skipper, John Mikel Obi and Chidozie Awazeim from Rizespor of Turkey (both €3.5m), with 16th spot held by Levante of Spain winger, Moses Simon (€3m), followed by Brighton & Hove Albion of England defender, Leon Aderemi Balogun (€2m).
The last six rungs go to outgoing Hapoel Be’er Sheva of Israel midfielder, John Ugochukwu Ogu (€1.5m), Anothorsis Famagusta of Cyprus keeper, Francis Odinaka Uzoho (€1m), Paderborn of Germany left-back, Jamilu Collins (€900,000), Kaizer Chiefs of South Africa keeper, Daniel Akpeyi and Bursaspor of Turkey defender, Abdullahi Shehu (joint-21st with €700,000) and Katsina United keeper, Ikechukwu Ezenwa (€150,000)
Altogether, Nigeria’s 23-man roster to Egypt 2019 is valued at a total figure of €195.95m (approximately N78bn), but Ndidi, Chukwueze, Iwobi and Onyekuru are worth more than the remaining 19 players combined.
The average value in the squad is €8.52m, with Aina the most expensive defender (€10m), Ndidi costliest midfielder and Chukwueze top forward, with six of the top-ten playing for clubs in Europe’s big-five leagues.
