Leicester City of England midfielder, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi could be in for a challenging battle for his current undisputed place with The Foxes’ main team this season, as the club are moving to Italy in search of a key player that will rival the Super Eagles star and give him competition, megasportsarena.com has learnt.
The report out of King Power Stadium reveals that the man to rival Ndidi for regular playing time in the coming campaign is Sampdoria midfielder, Dennis Praet, who Leicester aim to double his salary in order to beat off a stiff fight from AC Milan to his signature.
While Ndidi has made his mark with Leicester, since arriving in 2017 from Racing Genk of Belgium, the man coming in to compete with him is from the same country where h used to ply his trade, and the Belgian ace is a summer target for Brendan Rodgers’ side after an impressive spell with Sampdoria in the Serie A.
Il Secolo XIX reports that Samp are prepared to sell the 25-year-old this summer to raise funds, and believe that his omission from a training match on Monday was a sign of his impending exit.
However, it is not a foregone conclusion that Ndidi will be pushed aside by Praet, as The Foxes face competition from Milan for his signature, as the San Siro club appointed former Sampdoria coach, Marco Giampaolo earlier this summer, and he wants to use that influence to lure his ward.
Giampaolo wants to bring the Belgian with him to The Rossoneri, but is waiting on the sales of Suso or Gianluigi Donnarumma before a deal can be struck, yet Leicester are understood to be offering double the cost of Praet’s current earnings.
Leicester also hope that the prospect of starring in the English Premier League can tempt Praet, but the Belgian star is not fully convinced as he ponders his next move, after the former Anderlecht midfielder made 34 Serie A appearances under Giampaolo last season, scoring two goals and providing three assists.
