Former Super Eagles’ captain, John Mikel Obi has come out with a startling revelation of what he calls the biggest weakness of his ex-teammate, Eden Hazard, who he recalls hated training so much during their days together at Chelsea, megasportsarena.com reports.
Mikel is now rolling down his career at Trabzonspor of Turkey, while Hazard appears to be struggling for form at Real Madrid of Spain, and the ex-Eagles’ skipper has suggested that it might because the Belgian ace does not want to work his socks off.
The Nigerian ex-international, who played alongside Hazard at Stamford Bridge between 2012 and 2017, during which time they both won two English Premier League titles and the UEFA Europa League diadem together, acknowledged that his pal has struggled to make an instant impact since moving to Madrid this past summer.
He went on to suggest that Hazard could have been as great a player as Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, but submitted that, even without putting in his best efforts for regular training sessions with the club, the Belgian lad still ends doing very well in any match he is featured by the coach.
Hazard’s form in his last season with The Blues led to him finally getting his dream switch to Real, but his start to life at Santiago Bernabeu has been hampered by fitness issues, and Mikel appears to have thrown the lid off the star’s weaknesses by revealing that the Belgian’s star has a poor attitude towards training.
Mikel told beIN Sports: “Hazard has an incredible talent. Maybe not as good as Messi, but he can do whatever he wants with the ball at his feet. He didn’t like to train hard. While we were working he was waiting for us to finish training just standing there. But on Sundays he was always man of the match, it was unbelievable.”
