Derby County of England attacker, Malcolm Ebiowei has admitted he is uncertain about his future with The Rams, following their relegation from the English Championship, megasportsarena.com reports.
The former Glasgow Rangers of Scotland youngster had been hanging against hope that the team coached by England legend, Wayne Rooney would escape the drop, but his worst fears came to pass last weekend.
In the wake of the confirmation of their exit from the second-tier of England’s football league, following their defeat by Queens Park Rangers, the Nigerian-born lad is now weighing his options.
This comes after Ebiowei suffered relegation with Derby on Easter Monday, after a 1-0 loss to QPR, against which The Rams faced daunting odds to avoid the drop, as they had been slapped with a 21-point deduction for breaching English Football League rules.
QPR’s Nigerian midfielder, Luke Amos netted the game-winning goal for The Hoops, firing home from a counter attack just two minutes from time, thereby marking nunc dimitis for Ebiowei, who joined Derby’s academy from Rangers in September 2021.
Incidentally, his deal is expected to end with this season, which could make departure easier for the exciting left-footed attacking midfielder, despite being offered a new deal to keep him at Pride Park.
However, the youngster, who started making top marks within just five months of his arrival, could be eyeing a move following The Rams’ relegation to the third tier.
The 18-year-old Ebiowei, who was in Nigeria’s provisional list for the 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup and has achieved 13 Championship appearances, now has a decision to make on his next move.
