Leicester City of England winger, Ademola Lookman has stated sheer delight with his maiden invitation to the Super Eagles and stressed that he cannot wait to play for the Nigerian national team, megasportsarena.com reports.
The former Everton and Fulham of England youngster, who is on loan from RB Leipzig of Germany, added that he is eager to give his very best in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Ghana
His maiden invitation to the Eagles comes on the back of his impressive form for Leicester this season, which could set him as a pivotal player to watch in Nigeria’s squad against Ghana on March 25 in Cape Coast and four days later in Abuja.
With six goals and four assists in 28 appearances across all competitions for The Foxes, Lookman is close to equaling his career of best of eight goals and four assists he set in the 2017-2018 season.
He will now seek to transform his club form into thrills in green-and-white, as he would love to quickly justify getting his first ever call-up to the Nigerian national team.
His inclusion in a 25-player squad list for the 2022 World Cup play-off with West African rivals, Ghana later this month came after his application for a one-time change of association from England to his parents’ country, Nigeria.
Lookman, who played for England at U19, U20 and U21 levels, but was late last month cleared for Nigeria by FIFA, tweeted: “And so it begins my first call up and can’t wait to represent my country. See you soon Naija.”
