The arrival of Nigerian-born attacker, Leyton Ndukwu on loan at lower division club, Southend United from Leicester City of England has stirred excitement at his new team, with the coach, Kevin Bond leading the spray of sweet words rolling out in favour of the youngster, megasportsarena.com reports.
Bond admitted he was thrilled to snatch a budding youngster from the former English Premier League champions, with a verdict that Ndukwu has what it takes to help Southend achieve their targets for the season.
The gaffer spoke after Southend announced the signing of Ndukwu on a season long loan deal, with citations noting that the new arrival is an ex-England U-17 international, who was a mainstay for The Foxes’ under-23 side, up till the past season in his time at King Power Stadium.
The Southend manager was ecstatic about the acquisition of Ndukwu, who has already been handed jersey number 17 and is poised to make his debut against Blackpool this weekend.
Bond said: “I’m hoping he will give us that X-Factor. He’s somebody who can beat a player; somebody who can do something different.
“(Ndukwu can) create and he offers pace. t’s his first opportunity to play football that really matters.”
