RB Salzburg of Austria youngster, Karim Adeyemi has pulled off a shock surprise heading into the January transfer window, as he has sensationally snubbed lucrative offers from Barcelona of Spain and Liverpool of England, megasportsarena.com reports.
While many a young player worldwide would gleefully jump at the opportunity of joining either of the giant European teams, who remain strong contenders for lofty titles year in year out, Adeyemi has opted for the snub instead.
Such it is that the report out of Austria indicates that the Nigerian-born Germany youth international prefers moving to the country where he plays at national team level, rather than think of Queensland or The Land of The Armada.
That has raised suggestions that the in-form mulatto dazzler could be on his way to Borussia Dortmund at the start of next year, as he prefers trying his skills and prospects out in the German Bundesliga, not the English Premier League or Spanish LaLIga.
A report by SPORT added: “The 19-year-old has emerged as one of Europe’s hottest properties this year, breaking into the Germany squad and directly contributing to 22 goals in 28 games across all competitions for Salzburg so far in 2021-22.
“Liverpool have been tracking the youngster’s progress for some time, while Barcelona are also understood to have identified him as an ideal target as they prioritise youth as part of their squad rebuild.
“However, Adeyemi is only interested in a move to the Bundesliga at this stage of his career, with Borussia Dortmund leading the race for his signature.
“Dortmund have established a reputation for developing young players over recent years, with the likes of Erling Braut Haaland, Jude Bellingham and Giovanni Reyna among their current crop of talented youngsters.
“Adeyemi is reportedly keen to follow in their footsteps, particularly having seen Haaland thrive after making the same move from Salzburg to Dortmund.
“The Germany international scored three goals and registered two assists in six Champions League group games this season as Salzburg became the first Austrian club to reach the last 16 of the competition.
“Adeyemi has also been in prolific form domestically, scoring 14 goals in just 17 Austrian Bundesliga games, and he recently hinted that he would not consider leaving the club until the end of the season.”
