Leicester City of England attacker, Kelechi Iheanacho will be startled to learn that he has not heard the last about the possibility of Brazilian winger, Philippe Coutinho, who is on loan at Bayern Munich of Germany, arriving to rival him at King Power Stadium in January, megasportsarena.com gathered.
In contrast with initial talk that the fear of Coutinho was no longer an issue for Iheanacho, as Newcastle United and Manchester United were said to be keen on edging Leicester in the race for the former Liverpool star, a deal is again on for him at The Foxes.
Iheanacho has been in and out of The Foxes’ main team this season, with a burst into goals’ form coming just before the forced break occasioned by coronavirus, but the longer long term future doubt about his chances in the team has always been there, with confirmation now coming that the club are seeking Coutinho as a strong option for better depth in attack, midfield and flanks.
To make matters more precarious for Iheanacho, the Brazilian threat would become even more potent if it is true that Coutinho’s parent club, Barcelona of Spain are keen to sell him in order to raise transfer funds for the likes of Lautaro Martinez and Neymar.
At the same time, despite having enjoyed a solid season on loan at Munich, the German giants have no intention of pushing through a big-money deal for the Brazilian, and the warning bell now for Iheanacho is that Leicester are the only club to have expressed concrete interest in signing Coutinho.
This much has been affirmed by Spanish football expert, Guillem Balague, who disclosed that, with Coutinho’s future up in the air, the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain have all been linked with an approach, but Leicester are showing the keenest intent.
This is mostly because The Foxes are currently handled by Brendan Rodgers, the man who bought Coutinho for Liverpool back in the days, and Balague has suggested that Leicester are the only side to say that they wish to sign the 27-year-old Brazilian ace.
Balague expatiated on his official Youtube page: “The thing is, only Leicester have shown interest in Coutinho. Only Leicester, but I know that Coutinho’s representatives are looking into the Premier League with the possibility of getting him.”
