Former AC Milan protégé, Ezekiel Henry (Henty) is happy to seal a new deal in Eastern Europe and declared that he will put in the best of effort to finally get a massive breakthrough in his chosen career, as he aims to make the best of his days at SK Slovan Bratislava of Slovakia, megasportsarena.com gathered.
In the wake of his new deal signing on Thursday at the Bratislava-based club, ‘Henty’ admitted he has to hit the ground running, in order to finally achieve the potential he had been known to posses all this while, but he continues underachieving, which he says will now be different, as he hopes to get a better run than his recent stops at various midstream clubs across Europe.
Since failing to break into Milan’s main team in 2013, the 26-year-old ‘Henty’ has also played for Spezia and Perugia of Italy, Gorica and Olimpija Ljubljana of Slovenia and Lokomotiv Moscow of Russia, but he is yet to hit the height of the potentials he exhibited as a kid in Okoko, Lagos.
His itinerant search for club glory and a breakthrough into Nigeria’s national team has also seen him star for less fancied clubs like Baniyas, MOL Vidi, Puskás Akadémia and Osijek, all coming on loan from Lokomotiv Moscow, but his latest stop is a full contract made possible through his agent, former Super Eagles’ striker, Stephen Ayodele Makinwa (Tiger of Lagos).
Born May 13, 1993 in Lagos, Henty began his career at Flying Sports before joining Milan on 15 September 2012, and went on to score 10 goals in 22 appearances for their primavera squad, including scoring two braces against Cittadella and Udinese.
In the summer of 2014, he was linked with a possible transfer move to Sivasspor of Turkey and Vitória of Portugal, but he opted to join Gorica on loan, then moved to Videoton of Hungary in a three-year contract worth €1m on July 19, 2017.
Henty made his Videoton debut on July 30, 2017, starring for all 90 minutes in a 2–2 draw with highly-rated Újpest, where he was until Friday, when he reached an agreement on a permanent transfer to Slovan Bratislava, as a replacement for Andraž Šporar, who had left for Sporting CP of Portugal earlier, and Makinwa took to social media to celebrate his protégé’s latest deal.
Makinwa stated: “@officialezekielhenty10 is officially a player of @skslovanbratislava thanks to the president @ivankmotrik @makoz_group @ Bratislava, Slovakia.”
On his part, Henty said: “The first opportunity to come to Slovan came in early 2018, but then the transfer did not take place. I feel that should have been the case and only now is the time.
“I come to Slovan with great expectations, because it is the most successful club in the country, which has a good reputation on the international scene. I have spoken a lot about Slovan with Andraz Sporar and I know from his words what it means to play for Slovan and I am ready to accept this challenge.”
