American National Basketball Association (NBA) club, Milwaukee Bucks are set to sign the older brother of their Nigerian-born star, Giannis Adetokunbo (Antetokounmpo), as they return to Greece in search of a new touch of talent to their squad, megasportsarena.com reports.
So soon after Giannis emerged most valuable player (MVP) of the past season in the NBA, The Bucks have astonishingly hooked his older sibling, Thanasis Antetokounmpo.
The older Antetokounmpo, who is now 26, was originally drafted by the Knicks 51st overall in the 2014 NBA draft but saw action in just two games during his stint in New York, but he has now agreed to a two-year deal with The Bucks, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
Before agreeing to join his younger brother in Milwaukee, Thanasis had spent the last two years with Panathinaikos B.C. of Greece, the brothers’ adopted country, where he starred in the EuroLeague.
During his days with Panathinaikos, Thanasis averaged 3.9 points and two rebounds per game in 62 career tilts, which saw the 6-foot-7 small forward twice named a Greek League All-Star.
Thanasis is now back in God’s Own Country, where he previously played in the lower ranks, as he appeared on the NBA D-League All-Defensive Second Team in 2015.
