Sacked head coach of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr has revealed that he enjoyed his 64-month stint with Nigeria and that he is proud of his exploits and achievements with the three-time African champions.
Megasportsarena.com reports that although the former coach is sad to lose his position, he’s however sure the squad will turn heads in Cameroon.
“I don’t think anyone could have stayed there as long as I did. It wasn’t always easy, but it was extremely interesting.
“We have built a young team that can win the Cup. It was wonderful with them (the team and the staff). But there were problems with the others.
“I am still proud that we have achieved everything we set out to do.”
The German tactician also laments his frustration following the sacking.
“It’s a huge frustration, but I don’t want to argue, it’s not my style, I’m convinced that they will have a very good AFCON because the team is in place and this very united group is ready for the challenges that await it.
“I’m going to have a hard time doing without these great players and this very united staff, but the environment is not always favourable, we cannot control everything,” Rohr said.
