Brentford Town of England midfielder, Frank Ogorchukwu Onyeka has turned his attention fully on the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, following his side’s defeat at home by Manchester City in the English Premier League, megasportsarena.com reports.

Although he still has one more match to play for The Bees before storming the Super Eagles’ camp on Monday, the former FC Ebedei of Shagamu and FC Midtjylland of Denmark holding midfielder declared that he is already thinking of what he will do at the upcoming AFCON.

The 23-year-old battler stated as much against the backdrop of statistics showing he has taken part in 16 of 18 matches Brentford have played so far in their first ever appearance in the EPL, ten of which he started.

As he prepares to play for Nigeria in his first major tournament, permutations are high that he will feature in the Eagles’ first game against Egypt on January 11, as the acting coach, Augustine Eguavoen named him and Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi as the only two defensive midfielders in his squad list of 28 players.

Consequently, although he is also keeping a thought open for Brentford’s next match, which will be against Aston Villa on Sunday, Onyeka admitted he is already excited with the opportunity to represent Nigeria at AFCON 2021.

Onyeka told Brentford’s website: “Yes, it is my first time you know representing my country in the Africa Cup of Nations so I’m looking forward to it, and I’m excited to represent my country.

“We’re looking forward to Aston Villa, the mindset the team has, played against City, the energy we had the team I think we are going to bring it to Aston Villa on Sunday.”
