Arsenal of England youngster, Folarin Balogun has received a strong dose of support for a loan deal outside Emirates Stadium next month, as former player of The Gunners, Kevin Campbell is of a view that the fast-rising striker needs to develop his game further by playing actively.
Speaking against the backdrop of a starting role for Balogun in this week’s Carabao Cup fixture, Campbell said he was delighted seeing the youngster line out against Sunderland on Tuesday, but stressed that the lad needs ‘proper minutes in league football.’
Megasportsarena.com gathered that this could set the stage for a move out to a lower division side in January for Balogun, who has played nonstop at Arsenal since the age of eight, and Campbell is seeing better days ahead for the dark-skinned center forward.
Balogun, who was born in United States of America to Nigerian players but is already a budding England youth international, was on parade for 56 minutes at Emirates Stadium and played a key role to help The Gunners demolish Sunderland 5-1 to book their place in the semi-finals.
However, with 16 goals for Arsenal’s development squad this term, youth football appears to be too easy for Balogun and Campbell believes it is better for the striker to make a move to a lower division club where he would be guaranteed regular game time.
Balogun has already been linked with a multiple of clubs in the English Championship in the January transfer window and, while the youngster is also open to joining the German Bundesliga or French Ligue 1, Campbell believes a loan move would be best for the striker.
Campbell told Football Insider: “Balogun is getting there slowly but surely. I think it was smart of Arteta to give him a start. I’m also so glad to see Balogun given his opportunity as well.
“I was hoping to see that. I think he will be going out on loan in January so he can get more minutes under his belt, proper minutes in league football.”
