Heading into Saturday’s 4pm on Saturday, The encounter, which is billed for the refurbished Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja is the second leg of the penultimate qualification match for the FIFA Women’s U20 World Cup, and Danjuma affirmed that his lasses cannot afford to take their opponents for granted.
A preview by the communications department of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) added that Saturday’s encounter will be the first international match at the Abuja stadium since the venue hosted a 2016 Women Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match between the Super Falcons and Senegal in April 2016.
It is also the first of upcoming matches for Nigeria in the next few months, including the first leg of the 2022 Women Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between the Falcons and Cote d’Ivoire as well as the return leg of the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers final round between the Super Eagles and Black Stars of Ghana.
For Saturday’s game, the Falconets require only a minimum win to reach the final qualifying round, where they will square up with the winner between Morocco and Senegal for a place at Costa Rica 2022 in August.
Togolese official, Vincentia Amedome has been appointed by CAF as the referee, to be assisted by her compatriot, Abra Agbedanou (assistant referee 1), while Ghana’s Doris Essuman Darko will be assistant referee 2 and another Togolese, Edoh Kindedji as fourth official.
The match commissioner is Aisha Nalule from Uganda while Ghanaian Emmanuella Grace Aglago will serve as referee assessor of the encounter, during which Danjuma admitted is still delicately poised, after both teams battled to a scoreless draw in a gritty first leg encounter at Stade Reunification in Douala on 22nd of January.
Danjuma told thenff.com: “We have no choice but to go all out for goals. The Cameroonian team is a strong one but we have worked hard since returning from the first leg in Douala and I believe my girls will get the job done.”
