Nigeria’s U20 women’s team, Falconets arrived Abuja early Thursday morning after enduring an excruciating travel experience following their elimination from the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, reports Megasportsarena.com.
The players and their officials were received at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja by General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Mohamed Sanusi and representative of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Toyin Ibitoye.
The players and officials of the team had unpalatable moments to forget as they journeyed back to the country, they were stranded at the Istanbul Airport for 24 hours as a result of their inability to secure transit visas.
They were also delayed for more than three hours in Bogota, Colombia and one hour in Panama.
The Falconets were eliminated in the quarter-finals at Costa Rica 2022 after going down to a 2-0 defeat against Netherlands.
Chris Danjuma’s side won all their group games against France, Korea Republic and Canada in the competition.
