Emmanuel Dennis could play a role in the Super Eagles World Cup play-off against Ghana next month following a clear-the-air talks with the president of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick.
The Watford attacker was denied the chance to play at the Africa Cup of Nations, with the NFF claiming the Hornets were “baring fangs” over the situation.
Although not originally named in Nigeria’s squad for the tournament, as he was out of favour under former manager Gernot Rohr, he was however invited by the interim manager Austin Eguavoen but was held back by Watford with the sacked coach of the club, Claudio Ranieri insisting on having him to help the club’s relegation fight.
The 24-year-old, who has scored nine goals for his club this season, could return to international duty next month after holding talks with NFF president Amaju Pinnick and the Super Eagles coaching crew last week in London.
Pinnick met with a number of Nigeria players who play in England, including Ademola Lookman and Kelechi Iheanacho, and held talks with them in London.
