Former Chelsea of England striker, Didier Drogba is expected to arrive in Nigeria this Friday, as the Cote d’Ivoire legend flies into The Centre of Excellence to honour an invitation to take part in a testimonial football match for outgoing Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode.
Chief organiser of the match, ex-Super Eagles defender, Waidi Akanni said Drogba is expected on the even of the game at Agege Stadium, Lagos alongside other African icons like Samuel Eto’O, Didier Zokora, Siaka Tiene and Tresor Lomana Lualua, who he said have all confirmed their availability for The Match on Saturday, May 18.
Drogba is expected to play for African All Stars against Nigeria Legends at The Temple of Soccer, where Akanni promised that a carnival style of activities and ambience would be enacted in a farewell celebration of Governor Ambode, for the support he has given football.
The ex-international added that he is glad that all the African legends invited for The Match have confirmed that they will be present live.
Akanni disclosed: “It would be football laced with entertainment. In the days ahead, we would unfold the list of artistes that would be present.
“African football legends like Didier Zokora, Siaka Tiene, Lomana Tresor Lualua have also confirmed participation for the game.
“In fact they have sent video clips stating their readiness to play in the football match.”
