Leon Balogun is ruled out of Nigeria’s friendly match against Ecuador on Thursday while Emmanuel Dennis arrived camp yesterday in time for the duel with the Tricolor, reports Megasportsarena.com .
The Glasgow Rangers defender missed the Super Eagles’ 2-1 defeat to Mexico on Sunday due to a minor calf injury which he sustained in Gers’ Scottish Cup final win against Hearts and couldn’t travelled to the USA for the teams games.
The 33 years old is now expected to join the team in Abuja this weekend for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against the Leone Stars of Sierra and Les Dodos of Mauritius.
Semi Ajayi will now pair William Troost-Ekong in central defence in the game v Ecuador.
Dennis, who is wanted by a plethora of clubs in England and Spain, breezed into camp yesterday (Tuesday) and had his first training under new head coach Jose Peseiro, and he is expected to add a bite to the Eagles forward line in the match against the Ecuadoreans.
The Watford forward’s last appearance for the Eagles was in the I’ll-fated second leg of the 2022 World Cup qualifier against Ghana in Abuja in March.
