Dapo Afolayan Keen To Help Bolton Wanderers Amid Rangers Interest

0

Bolton Wanderers winger Dapo Afolayan went from strength-to-strength in League One last season but is keen to keep improving, Megasportsarena.com reports.

The 24-year-old finished as the Whites’ top-scorer, finding the net 14 times in all competitions despite mainly being used out wide or in the number 10 role.

But Afolayan has feels he is capable of even more in front of goal and has already set himself an ambitious target for next season.

“I want to hit 20 goals and be consistent in my performances. This season has gone well but it doesn’t mean anything if I don’t back it up,” he said.

“People pay their money to come and see good goals, big tackles, things like that. As an attacker, I try to express myself and beat people one-v-one as not only does it help the team, but it also gets people’s bums off seats.

“Defensively and tactically I’ve been better for the team. I’ve been able to adapt to different systems and formations, especially in the second half of the season.

“My dribbling is coming on and my physicality is improving, my strength and my speed.”

Fulham and Cardiff have both watched Afolayan in recent months and the former West Ham man has also been linked with a move to Europa League finalists Rangers.

But he remains focused on the upcoming League One season and is determined to help Wanderers “take that next step”.

The Whites finished ninth last season but Ian Evatt has already made it clear that the goal next term is to push for promotion to the Championship.

“It’s one of those things where maybe I won’t really realise how good it’s been until the end of my career as, since I’ve joined, it’s been constant football,” the winger added.

“It’s been a whirlwind but it’s been amazing so far and we know there are still areas for us to improve in.

“We’ve seen the standards in League One this season and now we want to take that next step.”
