Villarreal of Spain attacker, Arnaut Danjuma is facing a major hurdle of in his aspiration from a deal with either Liverpool or Manchester United of England, as The Yellow Submarine are not ready to release him for anything less than €75m (£63m), megasportsarena.com reports.
That is because they had that amount included as a release clause in his contract, when the 24-year-old Nigerian-born Dutch international arrived from Bournemouth of England last August and has been in impressive form for Unai Emery’s side this season.
The soft-spoken lad, who was born in Lagos to a Nigerian father and Dutch mother, shot to the bright limelight at Club Brugge of Belgium and, after failing to help Bournemouth back to the English Premier League, opted to join Samuel Chukwueze at Villarreal.
While Chukwueze’s run this term has been bogged by several injuries, Danjuma has excelled in his maiden season with The Yellow Submarine, for which he has nine goals and three assists in 18 outings, thereby attracting attention for a possible return to England.
A report by British newspaper, The Athletic added: “Villarreal are not looking to sell the Dutchman this month, so any interested club would need to pay €75m (£63m) in order to release him from his contract.
“Danjuma is aware of interest from the Premier League but is not looking to leave his La Liga club during the January transfer window.
“Liverpool and Manchester United are both believed to be interested in the attacker, who has also netted twice in five appearances for the Netherlands.
“The attacker, who has a contract with The Yellow Submarine until June 2026, scored 17 times and registered eight assists in 52 appearances for Bournemouth during his time in English football.”
