Seven Leicester City players have reportedly tested positive for covid or have an illness, along with three Foxes staff members.
Brendan Rodgers confirmed that several Leicester City players have tested positive for Covid-19 just a few days before they host Newcastle United.
Firstly though, the Foxes take on Napoli on Thursday evening before flying back to the East Midlands to face Eddie Howe’s side on Sunday afternoon.
The seven players who did not travel to Naples with the east Midlands team include: Ademola Lookman, Daniel Amartey, Kelechi Iheanacho, Ayoze Perez, Filip Benkovic, Vontae Daley-Campbell and Jannik Vestergaard.
Coach of the club Brendan Rodgers confirmed that a number of his first-team players and staff had not travelled to Italy.
“We’ve had a number of people, staff and players, who haven’t travelled,” he said. “We’ve had some positive [COVID-19] cases, some are generally not well, so we haven’t taken the risk.”
