Sean Dyche would not be drawn into the Clarets’ failed pursuit of winger Victor Moses after the Premier League blocked a proposed deal but Lancs Live understands Burnley are frustrated by the decision.
Megasportsarena.com reports that the 31-year-old is currently playing for Spartak Moscow in Russia and Burnley tried to end his predicament in Russia but the plan was rejected by Premier League chiefs. It is understood that Moses, Burnley and Spartak Moscow were all open to the move happening until the end of the season.
The top flight citied sporting integrity as the reason behind the decision. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine resulted in both domestic leagues being suspended and FIFA and UEFA taking the decision to allow players from teams in these leagues to join other leagues even though the window is shut.
The Premier League, however, joined the Bundesliga and Serie A is preventing any moves from taking place despite the willingness of all parties. The EFL is sanctioning moves, as is the Spanish top flight La Liga but the Clarets were blocked from adding the former Chelsea man.
Dyche rarely comments on transfer talk but did say the Clarets are always looking for opportunities in the market to strengthen.
The Clarets spoke about the Premier League’s decision to bring in five subs from next season while Dyche also fielded questions on the club’s interest in Victor Moses after the club was blocked from bringing the winger in from Spartak Moscow.
“There isn’t any side of the story to tell,” said the Burnley boss. “We’re linked with lots of players, and that’s another player and situation we’ve been linked with.
“You have to keep an eye on the ‘what-ifs?’ of the market, it’s fair to say they are always difficult, players have been out of contract, it’s a strange situation on that one-off player (Moses), but there are lots of other situations that occur, whether players are out of contract or have been injured for a while, things like that. Usually you do your business in the window, as best you can.”
