Wilfred Ndidi may have been ruled out of the Super Eagles’ crunch World Cup Playoff matches against Ghana later this month except the injury he suffered last night isn’t as serious as anticipated.
The midfielder was withdrawn in Rennes on Thursday during a Europa Conference League match and Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers said Ndidi has a serious knee complaint and he will be assessed by the Club’s medical and sports science teams over the coming days.
“Wilfred Ndidi, we just have to assess him. He may have picked up an injury which may keep him out for a few weeks, which is a shame.”
In what may likely be a double blow for Nigeria, the Foxes boss also said Ademola Lookman, another player invited for the games against the Black Stars, wasn’t feeling well in the game against the French club.
The Nigerian handlers would hope Lookman recovers in time for the crucial ties.
