Union Berlin forward Taiwo Awoniyi has admitted that playing in the England Premier League is his ambition.
Awoniyi was on the books of Liverpool for several years, but never managed to play competitively in England due to work permit issues.
At the Stadion An der Alten Forsterei in the ongoing campaign, Awoniyi has contributed nine goals in 18 league appearances for Urs Fischer’s side.
He moved permanently to Bundesliga club Union last summer in a £6.5million ($9m) deal from Liverpool in 2021 and has opened up to Kicker about his desire to play in England, “The Premier League is my dream. Everyone knows that, including here in the club.
“I said to myself: ‘If I don’t make it in England, I want to play in the Bundesliga because the Bundesliga is the best organised league’.
“If I lived in England, it would be easier for my wife and child, if only because of the language. In addition, my sister and a brother live on the island.
“It’s a matter of timing. Now it’s too early to talk about a possible change of club.”
