James Olayinka has joined League One side Cheltenham Town in a permanent transfer from Arsenal, Megasportsarena.com reports.
The 21-year-old midfielder had been a regular in our youth teams at all levels, since joining the club as a seven-year-old.
In recent seasons, James enjoyed two successful loan spells at League Two clubs. First, he gained promotion to League One with Northampton Town via the play-offs in 2019/20, playing in the final at Wembley, before joining Southend United and making 20 appearances in 2020/21.
In 2019, the Arsenal graduate was part of our first team squad for the pre-season tour to the US, scoring a stunning goal in a 3-0 win against Colorado Rapids. James was also included in the squad for our FA Community Shield win over Liverpool in August 2020.
“We thank James for his contribution to the club and wish him and his family all the best for James’ next chapter with Cheltenham Town.” A statement from Arsenal stated.
The transfer is subject to the completion of regulatory processes.
