West Ham United of England youngster, Ajibola Alese is on course for a spot with The Hammers’ main team in Thursday’s first leg of the UEFA Europa League semi-final against Eintracht Frankfurt of Germany.
This is despite the fact that the Nigerian-born England youth international is not yet a full-fledged senior team player at his London-based club, but the gaffer, David Moyes has considered him good enough for a look-in during build-up training.
Consequently, megasportsarena.com gathered that Alese is in contention to be named in West Ham’s squad for the match against ex-Super Eagles’ captain, Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha’s former club at London Stadium.
Heading into the game, Moyes monitored the central defender at close quarters in his side’s final session on Wednesday, at Rush Green Training Ground, Romford.
Alese’s hope of getting unto the pitch during the match has been boosted by fitness issues that have hit Kurt Zouma and Issa Diop, while Nigerian-born former Italy international defender, Angelo Obinze Ogbonna is still recovering from a long-term ACL injury.
All these factors mean that the chances are now bright for an outing in Thursday’s second-tier continental cup semi-final fixture for the 21-year-old Alese, who was an unused substitute last weekend versus fellow-London-based Chelsea in the English Premier League.
It would another major step forward for the youngster, who got his European debut against Dinamo Zagreb of Croatia in the group stage and has been included in seven matchday squads for The Hammers this season in the Europa League.
