Manchester United of England youngster, Shola Shoretire is relishing a symbolic step up in his career surge, as the Nigerian-born whiz-kid has taken over a spot vacated by former Super Eagles’ striker, Odion Jude Ighalo at Old Trafford.
So soon after Ighalo’s exit at the end of his extended loan deal from Shanghai Greenland Shenhua of China to The Red Devils, Shoretire has been confirmed with his first professional contract with the English Premier League side, and he quickly steps into the vacated spot.
Megasportsaena.com gathered that this is sequel to an official statement by the Manchester-based side, which revealed that 17-year-old Shoretire has been promoted to first team training under Ole Gonnar Solskjaer after signing his first professional contract.
The statement added that the fair-skinned Shoretire will be looking to hone his talents behind the scenes and continue his development at The Red Devils in the coming months and years, followed which Shoretire reacted with an instant ecstatic outburst.,
Shoretire, who turned 17 last week, had all along been starring for United’s under-23 squad but regularly trained with the first team on an ad hoc basis over the past two months, which drew interest in his services from Paris St Germain of France, Barcelona of Spain, Juventus of Italy and Bayern Munich of Germany.
However, the youngster snubbed the prospects of joining any of the big European clubs and opted instead to commit his future with The Red Devils, few hours after he combined well with new signing, Amad Diallo and netted a hat-trick for the U23s.
That feat on Friday helped United recover from 4-2 down to win 6-4, thereby setting more tongues wagging for the youngster, who gained further backing from experts to make his first team debut this season, especially after Solskjaer called him up to first team training on Sunday.
Shoretire took to social media with an ecstatic reaction, as he declared his delight and gratitude alongside a photograph of him signing the pro deal next to Solskjaer: “It’s a dream come true to sign my first professional contract for my boyhood club!
“Such a proud day for me and my family. Thank you to everyone at the club and to my family who have helped me get to this moment. Hard work continues!”
