Wolverhampton Wanderers of England new kid on the block, Ebeguowen “Owen” Otasowie has been hailed by the English Premier League club’s coach, Nuno Espirito Santo as a very young yet talented and physically strong lad, megasportsarena.com reports.
Speaking in the wake of Otasowie’s tremendous impact on his full EPL debut on Monday, Espirito praised the youngster for rising up to the occasion, but added a word of caution that the USA youth international still has a lot to learn because he is still growing in the round leather game.
Despite Wolves losing the game 2-1 away to Burnley, Espirito hailed Owen’s impact in the encounter, as the 19-year-old lad made his full bow in the English top-flight by starting in the midfield alongside Nelson Semedo, Joao Moutinho and Rayan Ait-Nouri.
While the visitors stumbled at Turf Moor, Espirito lauded the Nigerian-born youngster for putting up an for eye-catching performance against Sean Dyche’s team, even as the Wolves’ gaffer admitted it was a tough game for his new rave of the moment and the entire squad as a whole.
Born January 6, 2001, Otasowie made his senior debut for Wolves as a substitute in a 2019/20 UEFA Europa League group match against Beşiktaş of Turkey on December 12, 2019; after which he got his EPL debut On December 15, 2020, as a substitute for Leander Dendoncker in a 2–1 home win over Chelsea.
He made an instant impact in that game by providing an assist for Wolves’ first goal scored by Daniel Podence, then got his full EPL debut in Wolves’ next game away at Burnley on Monday, to further announce the youngster, who received his first call to the United States’ senior squad against Wales and Panama in November 2020.
He made his Team USA senior debut on November 12 as an 87th minute substitute in a goalless draw with Wales, thereby underscoring his value for club and country, much to the delight of his gaffer at Wolves, who predicted that the youngster has a great future ahead of him at Molineux Stadium.
Espirito declared: “Owen did well. He’s a good player. He’s strong, he’s physical and he’s very young, but he’s growing, he’s improving a lot of aspects of his game that he still has to learn, but he’s got a lot of talent. He had a tough game today, but he handled himself well, and he’s going to be back in the future.”
