Manchester United of England’s coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is already preparing for life after the return of Odion Jude Ighalo to Shanghai Shenhua of China, as The Red Devils has lined up the man to replace the former Super Eagles’ striker.
Megasportsarena.com reports that, with Ighalo’s elongated short-term loan contract at Old Trafford set to run out next month, Solskjaer is not ready to be caught unawares, and he Norwegian tactician is already seeking the right alternative.
Incidentally, Ighalo has not enjoyed the same prolific start he had to his days with United, as his first team spot has not been guaranteed after extending the initial six-month terms in June.
The original deal would have seen him head back to Shanghai at the end of last season but a sudden surge of top form and goals convinced Solskjaer to grant Ighalo an extension into January 2021, only for the former Lyn Oslo of Norway, Udinese of Italy, Granada of Spain, Watford of England and Changchun Yatai of China star failing to make the marks this term.
Consequently, Solskjaer is preparing to lose Ighalo next month and British newspaper, The Daily Star reports the former United striker and Norway ex-international had earlier been in the hunt for new centre-back and right-sided attacker.
The gaffer is now seeking alternatives up front as well, with Ighalo set to leave next month, along with fellow-attacker, Jesse Lingard, who has been linked with a deal at United’s English Premier League rivals, Tottenham Hotspur; who are currently being handled by The Red Devils’ former coach, Jose Mourinho.
Ighalo’s exit is a foregone conclusion, as his stint at Old Trafford is set to end on January 31 and his lack of playing time so far this season means nothing will stop him from heading back to Shenhua in China.
