Glasgow Rangers of Scotland defender, Leon Aderemi Balogun will again miss action with The Gers this weekend in the Scotish Premier League, following what the club’s coach, Steven Gerrard referred to as a ‘head issue’ affecting the Super Eagles’ star, megasportsarena.com reports.
The injury=prone Germany-bon lad, who only recently recovered from a knock he copped in Scottish Premiership action for the table-toppers, has consequently been ruled out of action on Saturday, in what Gerrard says is a precautionary measure.
The Liverpool of England legend went on to explain that Rangers have to follow concussion regulations after Balogun suffered a clash of heads on Wednesday and confirmed that the star will miss their fixture against Motherwell on Saturday, following the knock he got when his team suffered their first defeat of the season in a League Cup game against St Mirren.
The 32-year-old Balogun was dizzy after a clash with the opposing side’s Nigerian-born attacker, Jonathan Obika in the 84th minute and he required some minutes for treatment on the field; such that Saturday’s outing at Ibrox Stadium comes too early for him, and Gerrard says he will not take any risk with the defender.
“Balogun is unavailable, as we are following medical protocol after a head injury. Leon came off the pitch with a head issue and there are protocols now which we need to follow.
“I have spoken to the doctor on that, and we will follow medical guidance and protocols, so he will be unavailable. We are hoping to have him available for the next one after the weekend.”
