AD Alcorcón of Spain’s new signing, Kelechi Nwakali has declared that he wants to link forces with his teammates to ensure that they achieve something with the second division club this season, megasportsarena.com repots.
Speaking in the wake of the confirmation of his transfer to the Spanish Segunda Division side a day before the window closed for business and his unveiling on Thursday, Nwakali, who will don jersey number 15 for the remainder of this season, said he wants to make the best of his latest loan deal.
The 22-year-old Nwakali, who is on loan from top-flight side, UD Huesca, arrived at his new club’s training base for the first time and was welcomed by the coaches, players and staff, after which he immediately got down to business, holding his first workout with the squad.
The Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup-winning captain, who failed to play a single match during his four-year contract at Arsenal of England, is facing up to the responsibility of playing a more advanced role for his new club, as they have struggled to create chances so far this season.
Without a single victory in the second-tier league since the start of this year, Alcorcon are placed last in the 22- team standing, three points behind 18th place Real Zaragoza, but Nwakali stated shortly after his unveiling that he has arrived on a mission to help the team escape the drop
Though found game time difficult to get at Huesca, where he got only one start and went on in four games, totaling 138 minutes in the current season, Nwakali is set to make his debut for Juan Antonio Albacete Anquela’s side on Monday widen they travel to 7th placed Ponferradina.
While the club will be hoping to seek their first league win in 2021, the 22-year-old Nwakali, who has been allocated jersey number 15, believes Alcorcón can maintain their place in Spain’s lower division Smartbank league, as they still have 19 games left to salvage their season.
The product of Diamond Football Academy of Umuahia went on to highlight his key attributes and technical quality that he reckons can help his new team improve their position in the table and he declared: “With my qualities I believe joining the team we can achieve something great.
“I am a box-to-box midfielder who can support the attack and then whenever we lose the ball I am always in a good position to defend for the team.
“I know I’m a player who loves to keep the ball, and I can pass the ball very well, also good in attacking but I believe we need to improve in defending as a team.”
