Three Nigerian-born youngsters in England continued the rain of goals that had been set in motion by Manchester United youth prodigy, Shola Shoretire with a hat-trick on Friday, as Carney Chukwuemeka, Femi Azeez and netted for their respective clubs.
Megasportsarena.com reports that, while Victor Akinwale made hay for Crystal Palace in the U18 Premier League, Reading’s Azeez and Aston Villa’s Chukwuemeka were thereafter on target for their respective teams in Premier League 2 matches on Friday, January 5.
Azeez and Chukwuemeka were both on target at Bodymoor Heath Training Ground, where the points were shared following an eight-goal thriller between Aston Villa and Crystal Palace, who gave another highly promising Nigerian-born striker, David Omilabu his first appearance for The Eagles in the English Premier League 2.
Chukwuemeka led the spree, as the 17-year-old midfielder extended Villa’s lead to 4-2 with an emphatic finish, which was his first competitive goal for The Villans’ U23 squad, while Arsenal protégé, Miguel Azeez’s brother, Femi continued his purple patch with Reading’s fourth goal in their 5-2 rout of West Bromwich Albion at Hogwood Park Training Ground.
Twelve minutes from time, Azeez took full advantage, converting high beyond the goalkeeper from close range after The Baggies failed to clear their lines, after which Akinwale got one of the goals, as Palace moved four points atop the U18 League with a 2-0 win over Fulham in a derby at London School of Economics on Saturday afternoon.
Akinwale and fullback Tayo Adaramola started for The Eagles, while Michael Olakigbe and Idris Odutayo were named in The Cottagers’ starting 11, in a game that hit an exciting patch when Rak-Sakyi dinked over the goalkeeper and slotted home in the 34th minute.
Before then, 16-year-old Akinwale opened scoring from close range in the sixth minute after he was set up by Kevin Gonzalez and, in his 13th English U18 Premier League fixture this season, the Nigerian-born lad took his goals’ haul to five with his strike against Fulham.
The first year scholar, who earlier hit target against Chelsea, two versus Norwich City and one in the reverse fixture against Fulham, made his Premier League 2 debut against Norwich City on February 1.
