Queens Park Rangers of England winger, Bright Osayi-Samuel could become the next Nigerian player to star for Fenerbahçe of Turkey, as the Turkish Super Lig club are reportedly keen on signing the in-form lad in the coming month, megasportsarena.com reports.
In what becomes a new chapter in the thorny transfer story of Osayi-Samuel, who missed out on a very promising deal at Club Brugge of Belgium last summer, the former Super Eagles’ invitee could be on his way to Istanbul in the January window.
That would take him down the same road earlier plied in Istanbul by Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha, Uche ‘Gentle Giant’ Okechukwu, Emmanuel Emenike, Joseph Ikpo Yobo and Victor Moses, as Turkish sports daily, Fanatik disclosed that Fenerbahçe have made contact with his agent over a possible transfer in the coming month.
With Osayi-Samuel’s current contract at QPR set to expire at the end of the ongoing season and little progress made regarding a renewal, the youngster’s future with The Hoops is already under a cloud, but Fenerbahçe’s coach, Erol Bulut appears keen to welcome him to The Yellow Canaries.
This is sequel to additional information indicating that Bulut has given the nod for his club’s signing of Osayi-Samuel, mostly because of the lad’s ability to play down both wings and the 22-year-old lad’s physical attributes.
It is now left to be seen what Osayi-Samuel will down at the turn of the year, as he has also become a favourite among QPR’s fans in recent time, and even won the club’s Young Player of the Year and Goal of the Season awards at the end of the past campaign.
Osayi-Samuel arrived at Queens Park Rangers from Blackpool in August 2017 and has scored 12 goals in 111 appearances across all competitions and he showed a preference of remaining with The Rs, though he was heavily linked with Club Brugge in the summer transfer window, with the Belgian champions also offering him a chance to play in the UEFA Champions League.
However, rather than take the bait that would have seen him join forces with the Nigerian duo of Emmanuel Dennis Bonaventure and David Chidozie Okereke at Brugge, Osayi-Samuel dilly-dallied all the way before travelling to see the club first hand, only to eventually turn down the offer, which observers fear may happen again with the opening he has received in Istanbul.
