Former Golden Eaglets’ goalkeeper, Adrian Akande has extended his stay at Swansea City of England in a new short-term deal that will keep him at the English Championship side until 2023, megasportsarena.com gathered.
Information on offer out of Queensland indicates that Akande’s new deal is an improvement on the initial scholarship package he had on joining The Swans, who went on to confirm that their latest agreement with the player will run out in the summer of 2023.
The youngster signed the new deal alongside two other promising teenagers, Harry Jones and Josh Thomas, who also put pen on their first professional contracts with The Swans.
Akande accepted to stick with Swansea for another three years, despite keen interest in his signature from Manchester United and West Ham United of England, Glasgow Rangers of Scotland and TSG Hoffenheim of Germany, who had also approached him before he opted to join Swansea on a scholarship deal.
A report by allnigeriasoccer.com added: “The former Crystal Palace starlet was a member of the Golden Eaglet squad to last year’s U17 Africa Cup of Nations in Tanzania and was named in the provisional squad for the World Cup in Brazil.
“He has represented Swansea City in the FA Youth Cup, U18 Professional Development League and Professional Development League this season.”
