Trabzonspor of Turkey striker, Anthony Nwakaeme set the stage for another glorious week for Nigerian players when he netted a very late minute goal for his Turkish Super Lig club on Monday, megasportsarena.com reports.
After goals rained off the boots of Victor Moses, Olaewaju Kayode and several teenagrs in England over the past weekend, Nwakaeme proved that he cannot be overlooked as he started the new working week in style.
Such it was that the former Hapoel Be’er Sheva of Israel hitman was on target to help Trabzonspor get a 2-0 win away to Yeni Malatyaspor in the Turkish Super Lig, as he netted in such dramatic fashion, with almost the last kick of the game.
Nwakaeme showed good composure to strike the ball home from an acute angle in the fifth minute of stoppage time, as both teams were level at the break but Trabzonspor were quick out of the blocks in the second half and Anastasios Bakasetas broke the deadlock in the 49th minute.
Nwakaeme, who has been in great form in his last eight matches in the Super Lig, with three goals and four assists, since his arrival in Turkey in August 2018, has now bettered his ‘very late goal’ mark of 94 minutes he achieved against Krasnodar of Russia in last season’s UEFA Europa League.
